New Global Ideological Trends in the Era of Unprecedented Changes and China’s Diplomatic Responses

  Lu Jing & Lin Yiping

Amid transformations of the world unseen in a century, outdated paradigms are clashing with emerging visions, resulting in new ideological trends that reshape international discourse. For China, it is not only deeply influenced by the international ideologies but also plays a major role in shaping them, and the evolving global dynamics present both formidable challenges and historic opportunities. Crisis Management in the South China Sea between China and ASEAN States

  Liu Lin

Properly managing differences and preventing conflicts from escalating into crises is essential for maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea. Over the years, China and the claimant states of ASEAN, as well as the organization itself, have developed several bilateral and multilateral crisis management mechanisms, which have been useful for stabilizing the situation but are facing new challenges in the context of growing US-China strategic rivalry and evolving South China Sea dynamics. Li Jia & Jiang Zhida

Such cooperation can bolster the technological capabilities of Chinese digital enterprises and mitigate the negative effects of the US technological embargo against China and its decoupling strategy on the digital economy. It also holds vital significance for stabilizing China’s surrounding geopolitical environment, promoting China- ASEAN cooperation and development, and creating a favorable international environment for Chinese modernization.

The EUs Perception of Multipolarity and China-EU Multilateral Cooperation

  Jin Ling

The European Union’s perception of multipolarity has evolved in tandem with changes in its international status. As multiple crises unfolded, the EU gradually accepted the reality of a multipolar international order and strives to establish itself as one of the poles through strategic autonomy. Meanwhile, some issues have remained relevant in the EU’s multipolarity discourse, determining its positions at different times. Despite their divergences, China and the EU have significant common understanding on multipolarity and multilateralism, which would help promote multilateral cooperation between the two sides and hedge against the US unilateralist impulse.

The Inherent Logic Underlying US Risk-Seeking Policy Orientation toward China and Its Strategic Effects

  Chu Yongzheng & Song Dexing

As the global power transition accelerates and major-power strategic rivalry intensifies, China’s rise is perceived by the United States as a major threat to its hegemonic status. In its China policy, the US is increasingly inclined to take more risky actions to maximize its own interests. Aiming to create a favorable strategic competitive environment for the US and to“deter and subdue China”without completely disrupting the bilateral relationship, the risk-seeking policy orientation is undoubtedly extremely dangerous and thus requires high vigilance.
