Riding the Trend of the Times with a Strong Sense of Responsibility

  Wang Yi

The world has witnessed further transformation and instability, marked by protracted and intensified geopolitical conflicts, repeated attempts to decouple and sever supply chains, and the rapid rise of the Global South. What choices countries make will determine the course of our times and have implications for the international landscape. China will continue to bear in mind the larger picture, shoulder responsibilities for the greater good, and advance the right and just cause, steadfastly advancing the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

The Driving Force of China’s Middle East Policy: Great Power Competition or Regional Cooperation

  Niu Xinchun

With the continuous evolution of China-Arab relationship amid major power competition, China’s Middle East policy has entered a new stage. The endogenous driving force of China’s policy in the region is to strengthen cooperation in political, economic and security fields with the regional countries. However, under the influence of the zero-sum mentality of the United States, China’s relations with Middle Eastern countries will face unprecedented new challenges.

Exploring a New Paradigm for Multilateral Cooperation: African Trans-Regional Cooperation and China’s Role

  Zhou Yuyuan

Trans-regional infrastructure cooperation is a priority agenda for development and integration in Africa. China’s engagement in trans-regional cooperation in Africa has evolved from bilateral to multilateral and regional cooperation, from project-level participation to strategic alignment, and from infrastructure construction to full-chain involvement. To deepen China-Africa collaboration and promote high-quality Belt and Road construction, a new paradigm for China’s participation in African trans-regional cooperation is needed with innovative concepts and pathways, enhanced mechanisms and levels, as well as broader fields and approaches.

The EU’s Trade Policy Paradigm Shift and Its Impact

  Cheng Weidong

The European Union has introduced a series of trade policy documents since 2015, signaling a shift from the traditional liberal trade policy paradigm to a multifaceted trade policy paradigm. This new paradigm will likely lead to imbalances in international trade development and influence the trajectory of international relations. However, the EU’s new policy paradigm is faced with many challenges, and its future will be determined by various internal and external factors.

Enhanced US-Japan Cooperation in the South China Sea in the Context of Indo-Pacific Strategy

  Du Lan & Yao Zeyu

The South China Sea issue has increasingly become a pivotal element in the joint efforts of the United States and Japan to advance their Indo-Pacific strategy. They are actively engaging regional countries in an attempt to contain China. Through diplomatic coordination, military collusion, and the enhancement of trilateral cooperation among the US, Japan, and the Philippines, they are striving to construct a multi-layered maritime deterrence system against China and undermine China-ASEAN relations. China must remain highly vigilant and resolutely adopt countermeasures. Simultaneously, China should enhance dialogue and cooperation with ASEAN to jointly safeguard peace and stability in the South China Sea.

The Modi Government’s Engagement in Central Asia: Motivations, Measures and Limitations

  Huang Dengxue & Li Ao

Since independence, Central Asia has once again become an arena for great power competition. As a latecomer to the new great game, India has implemented a series of measures in political, economic, security, and cultural spheres under the leadership of Narendra Modi to deepen its relations with Central Asian countries. However, India faces a number of constraints in its outreach to Central Asia at multiple levels and therefore still has a long way to go.

The International Climate Cooperation Paradigm of the West and Global Climate Governance Challenges

  Wang Ruibin

The Western paradigm of international climate cooperation has made contributions to maintaining cooperation. However, its inherent and intrinsic flaws have greatly reduced the effectiveness of cooperation, and have long been disconnected from the reality and requirements of global climate governance. Amid profound changes in the international landscape and climate governance, the climate cooperation pattern should reflect new situations. It is essential to uphold the UN’s authority, support developing countries’ rights and interests, and advance a fair, reasonable, and win-win global climate governance system.
