The Biden Administration's Indo-Pacific Strategy and Its Impact on China

  Wei Zongyou

While demonstrating continuity in its vision of regional order, the Biden administration's Indo-Pacific strategy exhibits new trends in implementation methods, strategies, action plans and its approach to China, which will significantly impact the Asia-Pacific regional order and China-US relations. However, taking China as a significant strategic challenge does not serve US global and long-term interests, and the US determination, ability, and resources to implement the Indo-Pacific strategy will be greatly restricted amid the ongoing Ukraine crisis.

The AUKUS Trilateral Security Partnership: Features, Implications and Prospects

  Chen Xiaochen & Chen Hong

Since its establishment, AUKUS has shown unique features in its nature, driving forces and priorities. With broad and complicated implications for international relations, regional order and international security, the trilateral security partnership may develop into the core of the institutional network on which the US Indo-Pacific strategy relies. While it is still evolving, it is clear that AUKUS is turning back the wheel of history and runs counter to the trend of peace, development and cooperation.

Japan's Economic Security Strategy and Its Implications for China

  Zhu Haiyan

Japan's economic security strategy aims to ease the dilemma of inverse dependence between security and economy and establish its strong position in the new economic and technological order. The strategy is also meant to strengthen the Japan-US alliance, support American technological competition against China, and obstruct China's rise. Japan's moves will hinder China's scientific and technological advances and regional cooperation in global economic governance, but internal and external constraints determine that Japan cannot fully meet its strategic expectations.

The ROK's Perceptions of China-US Strategic Competition and Its Impact on China-ROK Relations

  Zhang Chi

The China-US strategic competition has triggered a sense of crisis and heated debate in the ROK. Although the Moon Jae-in government tried to maintain strategic ambiguity and a balance between China and the US, the ROK is still under great pressure to pick sides. During the presidency of Yoon Suk-yeol, China-ROK relations may go through "adjustment" and even witness a "restart" in the future, but the significance of the bilateral ties should not be underestimated and a tough China policy is not in the ROK's interests.

China's Foreign Cooperation on Food Security under the Global Development Initiative

  Zhang Shuai

The resilience and flexibility of the global food system is at stake because of the pandemic and multiple other factors, and the deficit of global development, of which food security is a major component, has become a common concern of the international community. To advance international cooperation on food security under the Global Development Initiative on a more solid footing, China needs to take comprehensive measures in the face of various challenges so that food security can be sustainable and the UN's goal of zero hunger by 2030 be achieved.

Global Governance of Food Security and China's Role

  Yu Hongyuan & He Jing

Promoting a balanced global food security governance system and preventing shocks from extreme events is a matter of sustainable development as well as an anchor for regional order and cooperation among major powers. The imbalance between institutional supply and demand, despite its impacts on China, has also brought opportunities. As the largest developing state and a responsible major country, China has both the incentive and the capacity to play an important part in global food security governance with its solutions and contributions to international cooperation.
