  Shaping the New Normal in China-US Strategic Competition

  In his first year in office, Biden has inherited the previous administration's strategic position and approach to China, while striving to formulate a competitive China strategy more beneficial and sustainable for the US. Significant improvement in China-US relations may be unlikely during Biden's presidency, but moderation and adjustment of the relationship to some extent is possible as long as the two sides can work together to increase the stability and predictability of their relations, facilitate healthy competition and reduce the risk of conflict.

  

  The US Comprehensive Strategic Competition with China: Nature, Characteristics, and Internal Tensions

  China-US competition is becoming structural, prolonged, and comprehensive in nature as the Biden administration's China strategy gives more priority to institutions and values. However, internal tensions in the US strategy will eventually affect whether and the extent to which its goals will be realized. To restore sound and stable growth of their relations, both China and the US need to learn from the experience and lessons in their interactions over the past half a century, and adhere to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation.

  China-ASEAN Cooperation and the Optimization of Regional Order

  China-ASEAN cooperation has made remarkable achievements over the past 30 years. Both sides have been able to overcome conceptual and practical contradictions in the process of regional cooperation, and thus optimize the East Asian regional order. China's recognition and promotion of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific is in line with the new trend in the evolution of regional order, and will in practice contribute to easing China-US strategic competition.

  

  The Role and New Issues of RCEP in the Promotion of East Asian Regional Cooperation

  The RCEP lays the foundation for East Asian regional sustainable development. However, its actual effectiveness will depend to a considerable extent on the speed and extent of its implementation as well as its further upgrades and improvements in the future. Following the agreement's entry into force, RCEP member countries must get their domestic policies prepared and strengthen international cooperation to give full play to the fundamental role of the RCEP in Asian regional economic integration.
