President Xu Bu Attended the 20th China-Russia Bilateral Academic Seminar

  On December 1st, President Xu Bu attended the 20th China-Russia Bilateral Academic Seminar. President Xu Bu and Vice President Baikov of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) attended and delivered opening speeches.
  

  President Xu Bu pointed that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation. Over the past 20 years, China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination have seen in-depth growth. They have set a fine example of intergovernmental cooperation and become a true pillar of world peace and stability. Under the current international situation, China and Russia should strengthen strategic communication, firmly support each other's positions, and coordinate and cooperate closely on matters. Scholars from both sides should continue to give full play to their outstanding traditions, conduct in-depth exchanges and discussions, and contribute wisdom to deepening cooperation between the two countries.

  The seminar was hosted by the MGIMO this year. Experts from Department for European-Central Asian Studies, Department for International and Strategic Studies, Department for American Studies and Department for World Economy and Development of CIIS, the Institute of East European, Russian and Central Asian Studies (IEERCAS) of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, MGIMO, and Higher School of Economics (HSE) participated. Participants conducted in-depth discussions on four topics: the COVID-19 epidemic and the new international situation, the development of China-Russia relations in the new era, the evolution of Western ideology and opportunities for China-Russia cooperation, as well as the situation in Afghanistan and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

  The China-Russia Bilateral Academic Seminar began in 1996 and was organized alternately by CIIS and MGIMO.
