In his speech, President Qi stressed that as the only two countries with a population of more than one billion and the two largest developing countries representing emerging economies in the world, China and India should cooperate to inject strong impetus into their bilateral relationship and add stability and positive energy to world peace and prosperity. Both sides should abandon the Cold War mentality of “dragon and elephant competition” and strive to jointly build a bright future of “dragon and elephant dancing”. The two countries should always place the boundary issue in an appropriate position in bilateral relations and prevent turning differences into disputes.
Participants conducted in-depth discussions on the present and prospects of China-India.
