CIIS Hosts the 19th China-U.S. Young Leaders Dialogue

  On June 29-30, 2022, China Institute of International Studies hosts the 19th China-U.S. Young Leaders virtual meeting. The meeting is dedicated to the theme of “Managing Differences and Promoting Cooperation: Taking the Pulse of China-U.S. Relations under Changes Unseen in a Century”. President Xu Bu delivered opening remarks.
  President Xu Bu pointed out that the world is living through changes unseen in a century. The prevailing trend of peace and development is facing serious challenges. As the world’s two big countries, China and the U.S. must not only guide the bilateral relations forward along the right track, but also shoulder the share of international responsibilities, practice true multilateralism, and work together for world peace and development. President Xu Bu extended hope that Chinese and American young leaders conduct in-depth discussions, promote mutual understanding, and make contribution to the sound and steady development of China-U.S. relations. 
  Participants include scholars from China Institute of International Studies, China Academy of Social Sciences, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, Renmin University of China, Fudan University, Center for International Security and Strategy of Tsinghua University, National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, University of California, Santa Barbara, University of Notre Dame, Institute for China-America Studies, University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Center for Naval Analyses, and University of Hong Kong. Participants exchanged ideas on topics of 50 years since China-U.S. breaking the ice, China-U.S. relations under changes unseen in a century, managing differences and promoting cooperation.
  The China-U.S. Young Leaders’ Dialogue project was initiated by CIIS in 2011, and over a hundred participants from the two countries have participated. The project has grown into an important platform of dialogue between young scholars dedicated to foreign policy research and China-U.S. relations, and it has received acclaim in the two countries’ academic circles.
