CIIS held the online press conference on “ The SCO Blue Book: Building a Community with a Shared Future: Opportunities and Challenges (2020)”

On 9th November, the China Institute of International Studies and the China Center for Shanghai Cooperation Organization Studies a held an online press conference on the launch of“the SCO Blue Book:Building a Community with a Shared Future: Opportunities and Challenges (2020)”. the representatives from MOFA, CASS, the World Affairs Press and experts from domestic think tanks specialized on SCO studies attended the press conference.

The CIIS president and the director of China Center for Shanghai Cooperation Organization Studies Xu Bu delivered a speech on behalf of Organizer. President Xu pointed out that efforts will be made to build the SCO Blue Book into a common academic field for both Chinese and foreign scholars of the SCO, so as to provide stronger intellectual support for the development of the SCO and the building of the SCO community with a shared future. LI Hui, the Special Representative of the Chinese Government for Eurasian Affairs, Zhang Shaohong the editor in chief of World Knowledge Press and Sun Zhuangzhi, the director of Institute for Russian, Eastern, Central Asian Studies of CASS expressed sincere congratulations. Li Ziguo, the director of Department for European-Central Asian Studie of CIIS hosted the press conference. Secretary General of the China Center for Shanghai Cooperation Organization Studies Mr. Deng Hao briefed the blue book to the participants.

The SCO Blue Book is an academic brand created by the China Center for Shanghai Cooperation Organization Studies, which aims to provide timely and strong intellectual support for the development of the SCO. “The SCO Blue Book: Review and Perspective (2001-2018)” and “The SCO Blue Book:the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the New Era: Situation and Tasks (2018-2019)” have been published. “The SCO Blue Book: Building a Community with a Shared Future: Opportunities and Challenges (2020)” mainly analyzes the opportunities and challenges facing the building of a SCO community with a shared future in the context of the COVID epidemic. The authors come from eight SCO member states and reflect the latest research findings of experts from SCO countries.
