Authored by Mr. Zhao Qinghai, director of the Center for Maritime Security and Cooperation Studies, CIIS, the book is an attempt at a comprehensive and systematic analysis of maritime security issues under the framework of “sustainable maritime security”. By incorporating long-term maritime security challenges into a holistic analytic framework, the author aims at obtaining a comprehensive and profound understanding of the interconnected and complex maritime security issues. Issues discussed at length in the book include maritime delimitation, island disputes, piracy problem, marine environmental challenges, exploitation and conservation of marine fishery resources, exploration and management of seabed resources, and Arctic issues. The book was published by World Affairs Press (Beijing) in Chinese in December 2013.
