The mission of the Department of American Studies (DAS) is to conduct research primarily on the foreign policy of the United States and on political, economic, military, social, and cultural factors that have a bearing on U.S. foreign policy orientations, in particular on its China policy orientations with a view to making policy recommendations, and to follow and analyze developments of the U.S. relations with Latin America and Canada.
