The5th China-ASEAN Think Tank Dialogue Held in Beijing

On October 25th, the 5th China-ASEAN Think Tank Dialogue co-hosted by China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) and ASEAN Institutes of Strategic and International Studies (ASEAN ISIS) was successfully held in Beijing. 

 

Dr. RONG Ying, Vice President of CIIS attended the opening ceremony and delivered welcoming remarks. Amb. U Wynn Lwin, Member of Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies, rotating chair of ASEAN ISIS, delivered speech on behalf of ASEAN participants.  

Amb. POU Sothirak, Executive Director of Cambodian Institute for Cooperation and Peace, Nguyen Vu Tung, President of Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Amb. Thieng Boupha, Director General of Institute of Foreign Affairs under Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR and nearly 40 experts and scholars from ASEAN countries and China participated in the conference and discussed a broad range of topics, including The Asia Pacific Situation in the Background of the Adjustment of Big Power Relations, Synergizing the Belt and Road Initiative and ASEAN’s Development Strategies (the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025), Developing New Fields and New Prospects for Bilateral Cooperation and Expanding Cooperation in the Field of Security to Achieve Sustainable Security in the Region. Mr. YANG Yi, Secretary General of CIIS, attended conference and delivered concluded remarks.

 

China - ASEAN Think Tank Dialogue was co-initiated by CIIS and ASEAN ISIS. The first four dialogues were held in Beijing, Bangkok, Chengdu and Siem Reap in the year of 2012, 2014, 2015 and 20116 respectively.
