15th China-U.S. Young Scholars' Dialogue Was Held in Changsha

On Jun. 25th-26th, 15th China-U.S. Young Scholars' Dialogue was held in Changsha. The dialogue was sponsored by CIIS, China-U.S. Exchange Foundation, and Hunan Normal University, focusing on “China-U.S. Relations and Regional Security Tendencies In New Situation. Dr.RUAN Zongze, Executive Vice President of CIIS, Amb.LIU Fei, Secretary General of CUSEF, and Dr.JIANG Hongxin, President of Hunan Normal University, Mr.QIU Aihua, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hunan Provincial People’s Government, Mr.Scott A. Snyder, Senior Fellow in Council on Foreign Relations, made their opening remarks. Dr. TENG Jianqun, Director for the Department of .American Studies in CIIS chaired the two-day dialogue.

About 50 experts and scholars attended this dialogue. Chinese experts are from CIIS, Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Fudan University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Jilin University, Eastern Liaoning University, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, Changsha University, China Central Television etc, and U.S. experts are from The Chicago Council on Global Affairs, University of California Santa Barbara, Center for Strategic and International Studies, National Committee on American Foreign Policy, Council on Foreign Relations, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Johns Hopkins University, The Stimson Center, and Private Equity International.

Delegates had in-depth discussion on topics including: “China-U.S. Bilateral Relations in New Situation”, “New Changes in Security Situation in East Asia”, and “Prospects of the Situation in Korean Peninsula”.

During the outreach program in Beijing, American participants had also visited China Foreign Ministry, International Department of CPC Central Committee, China Central Television, Global Times, and had an academic meeting with Chinese Young Scholars from CIIS, CASS, CICIR and CFAU in CIIS’ headquarters.
