Sino-U.S. Young Leaders' Dialogue 2018 Was Held in Washington D.C.

On Jan. 9th, 2018 Sino-U.S. Young Leaders’ Dialogue was held in Washington D.C.. The dialogue was sponsored by CIIS and Georgetown University, focusing on the current situation and the prospect of Sino-US relations while President Trump has been in Whitehouse for one year. Amb. SU Ge, Chair of China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation and Dr. Joel Hellman, Dean of the School of Foreign Service in Georgetown University, made their opening remarks. Dr. TENG Jianqun, Director for the Department of .American Studies in CIIS chaired the whole day dialogue. The Chinese Embassy to the United States and the U.S. Department of States also sent officials to this event.

About 35 experts and scholars attended this dialogue. Chinese experts are from CIIS, Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, China Academy of Social Sciences, Renmin University of China, South China Normal University, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, etc, and U.S. experts are from Georgetown University, Center for American Progress, Center for a New American Security, Brookings  Institution, Cato Institute, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Rand Corporation, Vantage Point Asia, LLC, Kroll, Maryland University, Johns Hopkins University, etc.

Delegates had in-depth discussion on topics including: “General Assessment on Sino-U.S. Relations after President Trump’s visit to China”, “the Influence of Asia-Pacific Hot Issues on Sino-U.S. Relations”, and “a New Type Relation in a New Era: Cooperation and Challenges”.
