HUA Liming was previously the Chinese Ambassador to Iran, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Netherlands, and the Chinese Permanent Representative to the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons from 1991 to 2001. He was conferred Medal of Independence by the President of the UAE, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in 1998.

Ambassador Hua was born in Shanghai in 1939. After graduating from Beijing Foreign Languages Institute (now known as Beijing Foreign Studies University) and Peking University, majoring in English and Persian respectively, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of China in 1963. Amb. Hua was the Persian interpreter of many Chinese ex-state leaders, including Zhou En-lai, Liu Shaoqi and Deng Xiaoping.

Amb. Hua has been Distinguished Research Fellow at CIIS since 2006.
